This progressive fused gore is highly experimental. It’s easy to get caught up in the visuals when accompanied by music this complete.
Metal is constantly moving into dark territories. Gone are the classic structures melded into something alien, a creature living down in the depths, metamorphosing, waiting for a chance to rear its ugly head!
“Pole Shift” is the latest video exploit of Poland’s Vidian. It’s a cleverly cut combination of performance and action as we loosely follow the exploits of a man walking alone in the woods. We quickly learn this guy has some problems, he’s at war with himself. Perhaps he’s the victim of some bizarre mental disorder or even a host for demonic possession. He throws himself on the ground so many times that we can’t rule out extraterrestrial visitation.
This video is freaky and great support for Vidian’s A Piece Of The End EP released last year via Arachnophobia Records. The imagery used plays well with the music. Like an ancient gothic soundtrack, black and white enhances the forest giving it a ghostly quality but when those opposites give way to color, the story begins to come into view. This is art in the classic sense the back silhouettes against the white back drop are reminiscent of the golden age of cinema, bringing us back to a simpler time of human life.
My favorite part of the video is when the main character finds the black tunnel. The shot is amazing; the body floating is eerie. It reminded me of something out of the X-Files. It was the payoff I desired accompanied by some really mesmerizing death metal. This progressive fused gore is highly experimental. It’s easy to get caught up in the visuals when accompanied by music this complete.
