Twisted Sister’s “The Price” has always struck a chord with me and maybe it will hit home with you. Check out this video and realize the struggles we live with are universal.

Life is fucked up. We make choices constantly. Sometimes you think you’re doing the right thing, but more often than not, you realize the decisions you’ve made may not have been worth it.

Whenever I second guess myself, I turn to heavy metal to help me focus. Song lyrics clarify those feelings and situations are universal, we’re not the only ones faced with the challenges of living.

Twisted Sister was established in 1972 but didn’t really break into the mainstream until 1984’s Stay Hungry. The rise of MTV paved the way for this band. The album became a corner stone of the ‘80s heavy metal movement. This music broke boundaries and brought the name Twisted Sister to the lips of teenagers across America.

“The Price” has always been a favorite video of mine. A glimpse into the success of Twisted Sister during their heyday but lyrically it’s so much more. Many believe this to be the greatest song ever to be written by the band. The message has always been open to interpretation. I think it’s about waiting for your time to shine but you eventually realize you’ve  missed your chance. Now, you’re left to regret the failure to grasp. It could be about career, ambition or even another person.
