This offering is trademark Slipknot. Reminiscent of their debut effort blended with later offerings, but also a hint the band is still evolving…

Slipknot is a heavy metal band from Iowa established in 1995. The group is known for their intense images, aggressive melodies and chaotic live performances.

Slipknot rose to fame following the release of their ground breaking, self-titled, debut album back in 1999.

I’m not a kid anymore. I’m just an old metalhead who loves his music. The years have allowed me to explore metal in all its forms and after 20+ years of following this particular band, I can honestly say this 9-piece unit from Iowa can still throw down with the best of them.

I’m writing this review with the hope that metalheads will stop making derogatory comments about Slipknot and realize metal needs bands like this to help push the boundaries. We need to open more eyes to extreme music and Slipknot will help us get there. Another effort has just been unveiled. The End, So Far, is due to hit the streets on September 30th via Roadrunner Records. A new music video for “The Dying Song (Time To Sing)” has just been released to promote the effort.

“The Dying Song” is a performance offering that covers all viewpoints. It’s time to put on your mask but beware! Reflections are everywhere and represent the part of humanity we can never escape from.

The use of mirrors in this music video is amazing, not only is this a great way to show off the new masks but also appears to offer some strange meaning.  I equate it to living in a demonic fun house where emotions are unleashed.

We might be able to hide who we are, but we can never truly bury the feelings from the reflections we cast.

It seems improbable that more than twenty years has passed since Slipknot burst onto the music scene. “The Dying Song” reminds us why we love music, not just the genre of metal. This offering is trademark Slipknot. Reminiscent of their debut effort blended with later offerings, but also a hint the band is still evolving…

Check out “The Dying Song (Time To Sing)’ and let this looking glass of Slipknot be a mirror for you! \m/
