A journalist is kidnapped by the band, strapped down and subjected to a musical torment.
Ram is quickly becoming one of my favorite heavy metal bands. A Swedish quintet, active since 1999, the group has been one of metal’s best kept secrets, until now.
A classic NWOBHM band, in the vein of hard working acts like Saxon, add some high octane Geddy Lee (Rush) meets Rob Halford (Judas Priest) vocals and you’ve got a unique sounding vibe sheltered within a highly addictive ‘classic metal’ structure. Ram has released five full length records so far with number six, The Throne Within, due out on September 19th via Metal Blade Records. A new music video for the song, “Blades of Betrayal” has been released to promote the effort.
The new visuals are heavy on the performance with a few theatrical aspects thrown in. A journalist is kidnapped by the band, strapped down and subjected to a musical torment. An old rock quarry serves as the backdrop of this epic attack. The dirt filled explosions are the kind of blowout I like to see. I especially like the ending when the journalist is forced to write a favorable review at gunpoint!
Ram has blazed their own path of metallic destruction. Check out “Blades of Betrayal” and if you write about metal, you might want to start looking over your shoulder. \m/
