The music video for the song “Me Against The World” has always been my jam. A performance offering that pulls out all the stops, this is just like seeing Lizzy live!
I don’t know why but I’ve been thinking about Lizzy Borden a lot lately, not the infamous axe murderer (Lizzie Borden) but the equally infamous heavy metal band. I think it’s because I’m just sick and tired of people’s shit. This virus drama has worn me down to a nub. I’m done being under appreciated. Sometimes music is the only escape. Metal anthems can be uplifting. They can take you to a place where you feel invincible. A place where you know you’re not alone.
Lizzy Borden was founded by brothers Gregory Charles Harges (Vocals) and Joey Scott Harges (Drums) back in 1983. I vividly remember riding on my high school bus jamming “Notorious” from Menace To Society (1986) in my Walkman. Mumbling “Hail Caesar!” under my breath as I walked into history class.
Though the band was considered a part of the ‘L.A. glam metal scene’ of the ’80s, their sound has always been associated with traditional heavy metal. Good song writing and a shock rock style separated Lizzy from the other groups, it got them a solid following. A respectable longevity in a world dominated by ‘Hair Metal Bands’ and a newly developing ‘Thrash Metal Scene’.
Lizzy’s most recent album (their first album in eleven years), My Midnight Things, was released in June of 2018. The effort peaked at number 148 on the Billboard Top 200. The world still can’t get enough of Lizzy Borden.
Regardless of style, the Lizzy Borden name has always been associated with quality ‘American Metal’. I will always remember them during their commercial peak back in 1987 with the release of Visual Lies.
The music video for the song “Me Against The World” has always been my jam. A performance offering that pulls out all the stops, this is just like seeing Lizzy live! A true metal anthem, the rules are simple. Dress the part and destroy with your music! Watching these visuals makes me long for a time when style and substance mattered.
This music video is a timeless metal chant. Check out “Me Against The World” and prepare your battle axe. It’s time to face the masses with the music of Lizzy Borden! \m/
