If you weren’t expecting Lacuna Coil to go heavier in the later stages in their career, think again. This dark edge highlights a brilliant mix of melody and menace seldom heard in this style of music.

Although the band Lacuna Coil has been churning out quality metal since 1997, I didn’t really get into them until Karmacode (2006). Considered a more ‘commercialized release’ than previous efforts, I realized early on that Lacuna Coil is a band still maturing. They’ve only begun scratching the surface fusing Eastern melodies with their unique style of atmospheric metal.

I’ve followed Lacuna Coil for years now, taking note of the band’s continued development behind the incredible vocals of Cristina Scabbia and Andrea Ferro. The dynamics have gotten progressively better, the songwriting is undeniably polished and proves they have the talent to lead. Now this trend setting act has returned, Black Anima, will be released on October 11th via Century Media Records. A new music video for the song, “Layers of Time”, has just been unveiled.

The new visuals are just what you’d expect from a group that has been meshing artistry and extremity since their inception. A performance offering that knocks you on your ass. If you weren’t expecting Lacuna Coil to go heavier in the later stages in their career, think again. This dark edge highlights a brilliant mix of melody and menace seldom heard in this style of music.

Lacuna Coil has proven once again why they are a force in metal. A powerful evolution which is sure to appeal to fans both old and new. Check out “Layers of Time” and let the intricacies of Lacuna Coil enhance you! \m/
