“Orphan Soul” is a challenging visual effort. An emotional storyline follows a young girl’s rocky road into adulthood.

Infected Rain is a female fronted metal band from Moldova. To be honest, I didn’t even know there was a country called Moldova but I recently discovered it’s a land locked nation located in Eastern Europe.

Being so far removed from the world has become an asset for Infected Rain. The progressive style of metal they play is highly unusual when compared to the mainstream productions we are accustomed to. Unbelievably, Infected Rain has been active since 2008 but is still unsigned!

The video for “Orphan Soul” is the third visual offering (“Mold” & “Serendipity”) for the groups third full length effort 86, which was self-released by the band in April of this year.

“Orphan Soul” is a challenging visual effort. An emotional storyline follows a young girl’s rocky road into adulthood. We quickly realize this effort is really a self-reflection, a grown woman’s lamenting of the past. The dust covering everything represents time, as well as that layer of grime the parents seem to never overcome. A broken home is something we can all universally relate to. My favorite part of this video is near the end when we finally realize this child wasn’t orphaned, she was neglected by parents who couldn’t stop concentrating on themselves. Now an adult, she still holds out hope that she might one day regain her family. A powerful message for a band hitting on all cylinders.

Infected Rain is a group worthy of your attention. Female fronted metal is spreading like wildfire. This isn’t a fad, this is the future and it would be great to have a group like this at the cutting edge. Thought provoking and uniquely progressive, this music needs to be heard. Check out Infected Rain’s “Orphan Soul” and let their liquid style of metal infect you! \m/
