“The Spiteful One” tears a warpath through your ears in full galloping metal fury, leaving a path of destruction in its wake.
Steve Rice‘s pre-Kill Ritual band Imagika return with a new video for their latest single, “The Spiteful One” off of their forthcoming album Only Dark Hearts Survive. Part Motorhead aggro-driven riff fest and part King Diamond screamer, all thrasher “The Spiteful One” spirals out of control out of the gate, capturing the agony of a jilted lover in full metal fashion.
Musically the band is tight as hell. Every galloping beat exactly on point, each catchy guitar riff ripe with trills and fills, vocals that rumble up from the depths of hell and explode into the stratosphere like a volcano – the song couldn’t be more perfectly suited to a revenge rampage. The cinematography also needs no CGI or special effects to drive this home – between rapid fire flicker scenes overlaying the aggression of Norman Skinner and the protagonist mid-meltdown (complete with face overlay effect as the flicker speeds up – very cool!) matching the breakneck pace set by the rhythm section, you are cast into the roll of a woman scorned or warned about the consequences thereof, coming to a climax with the whole studio implied to be burned to the ground.
Of special note on this return album and song is the inclusion of Matt Thompson on drums for the recording, of King Diamond fame.
“The Spiteful One” tears a warpath through your ears in full galloping metal fury, leaving a path of destruction in its wake. Give it a listen and check out Imagika‘s new album Only Dark Hearts Survive when it’s released in September! \m/
