We all know the female mantis eats the male, a fitting parody of man’s obsession with women.

I’ve been infatuated with Fleshgod Apocalypse since I first experienced them live back in 2014 on the Conquers Of The World tour with Septicflesh.

I found their sound and execution absolutely sick and I’ve been a fan ever since. The band’s 5th full length record, Veleno, was unveiled last May via Nuclear Blast. A new music video for the song “Monnalisa” has just been released to remind you Fleshgod Apocalypse is a force to be reckoned with.

“Monnalisa” is a theatrical offering with performance clips woven in. The video is stylish with high production values, this has the look and feel of a major motion picture. Like an insect trapped in a spider’s web, our hero succumbs to a group of big haired femme fatales.

Wrapped in a cocoon of gold he finds himself offered up to evil. The chain pulled out of his stomach is just sickening, murder and art seemingly brought together.

The praying mantis images are not lost in translation, as the hero becomes the victim. Helpless, he has no choice but to succumb to his demise.

Fleshgood Apocalypse has scored with “Monnalisa” on multiple levels. We all know the female mantis eats the male, a fitting parody of man’s obsession with women. Check out this new video and if you happen upon a big haired beauty, don’t loose your head! \m/
