The incorporation of ‘glam metal elements’ was definitely unexpected and while detractors would tell you this is a step back for Enforcer, I’d argue it’s a welcomed addition.
I got into the group Enforcer a couple years ago when I saw them on tour with Warbringer and Exmortus. I wasn’t sure what to expect from the Swedish metal band, active since 2004, whom I had never heard of before.
However, I found the band’s style of speedy heavy metal highly addictive. I picked up a copy of From Beyond (2015) and waited for the band to return. Enforcer is back with a new effort, Zenith, which just hit the streets on April 26th 2019 via Nuclear Blast. A music video for the song “Regrets” has just been dropped to build interest.
The visuals on “Regrets” are performance oriented. The colors seemingly extenuate the lyrics of the song. A melancholy ballad which marks some new territory for the band. The incorporation of ‘glam metal elements’ was definitely unexpected and while detractors would tell you this is a step back for Enforcer, I’d argue it’s a welcomed addition. In my mind there’s way too much negativity in metal. Every genre seems to be writing about violence, death and little else. There was a time when metal was all about ballads and anthems. These were the songs that solidified and unified our music. It’s time to get back to basics.
Check out “Regrets” by Enforcer and experience something new. Open your mind! \m/
