From the Matrix style opening, to the utilization of corpse paint, words and images come to life.
Eluveitie is a melodic death/folk metal act from Switzerland. The group has been active since 2002 and has released seven full length studio offerings. Number eight, Ategnatos, just hit the streets on April 5th 2019 via Nuclear Blast.
The line-up changes of 2016, including the replacement of Anna Murphy who left to form Cellar Darling, are now a thing of the past. Musically, one could consider this record a rebirth for the band. A blackened folk metal vibe is a dark direction for the band and one I can definitely appreciate.
“Worship” is being labeled as a simple lyric video but it is so much more. From the Matrix style opening, to the utilization of corpse paint, words and images come to life. Throw in some backing vocals from Lamb of God’s Randy Blythe and you have an offering with a lot of replay ability.
Ategnatos is rapidly becoming one of my favorite Eluveitie records. Fabienne Erni’s voice fits this version of the band, her performance is as powerful as it is emotional. Check out the new video for “Worship” and let the force known as Eluveitie enthrall you! \m/
