CRAZY LIXX – “Wild Child”

Written by David Halbe

The new video is a throwback homage to the ‘80s. A voluptuous woman in revealing lingerie, listening to Crazy Lixx on a cassette tape.

It’s not easy being sleazy. There was a time when glam metal ruled the world but nowadays that style is ridiculed, why? Grunge may have turned glam into a mockery but I always thought it was more than makeup and hairspray. There’s value in the carefree lifestyle this music projects. The ‘lighter side’ of metal is sorely missed today. I think we’ve been violently serious for far too long.

Crazy Lixx is a Swedish glam metal act that’s been active since 2002. They’re one of the few groups holding a torch nobody has wanted to carry for over a decade but I think that’s about to change. “Wild Child” is the first visual offering from the band’s latest effort Ruff Justice which is set to be released later this month   via Frontiers Music Slr.

The new video is a throwback homage to the ‘80s. A voluptuous woman in revealing lingerie, listening to Crazy Lixx on a cassette tape. A manic in a leather mask is on the hunt accompanied by plenty of ‘stalker style’ camerawork. These are some bad dreams seemingly come to life. The heavy fog in this visual takes on a personality of its own. Sensual yet dangerous, it becomes the mystery we can’t wait to unveil.

Live cuts of the band performing in a mock torture chamber add to the overall look of the effort. My favorite part of the video is when the heroine is seduced by the figure in the black hooded mask. A biblical role reversal, Eve is tempted by Adam. She reluctantly takes the hand of evil. Transformed, she climbs up on stage and accepts a backstage pass. A one-way ticket into the unknown.

Like a slasher film, this video could be a tie-in to some later visuals planned for Ruff Justice tracks slated to be used in a Friday the 13th video game!

Musically, Crazy Lixx sounds like they’ve gotten back to their New Religion (2009) roots. A fuller more complete rendition, Ruff Justice should make hardcore fans of the band happy and bring new ones into the fold. Check out this latest effort by Crazy Lixx and unleash the wild child in you! \m/
