This band can be as brutal as the world we live in and appear to take their savagery in stride.

Purists be damned! Metal is evolving. The compliancy we’ve been lulled into has finally been stirred into action. Gone are the days of self-glorification and carefree madness, a conscious has penetrated the underground. This new force is more than a melding of style or a nod to the past, this is a retooling of fury. The mainstream cowers as something exciting challenges the rules of normalcy.

The Charm The Fury is up for the challenge with their latest visual effort “Down On The Ropes”. This video seemingly has it all. Part performance and part revenge, this is a vision that goes right for the throat and never gives up. From the opening sequence with the cockroach on the cross, to the ending where the fat man seemingly goes up in smoke, this is a declaration that will not be denied.

The music is as relentless as the stalker on the screen. This video has a lot of ‘80s slasher appeal, an abusive glutton gets his just deserts. Brought into the world of his captor, he is hunted down and repaid tenfold for his abuse. There is no escaping a musical vibe that is sure to stir your blood. This band can be as brutal as the world we live in and appear to take their savagery in stride.

I’d never heard of The Charm The Fury before I saw this video but you can bet your ass I’m aware of them now. Their new release: The Sick, Dumb & Happy is due out March 17th.

Leave it to a Dutch metalcore band from Amerstdam to tell it like it is. I get the feeling they are not afraid. \m/
