I appreciate how the little details in each song seemingly connect with the accompanying video.

Cellar Darling is from Switzerland. The band has been active since 2016. Born out of a departure from the Swiss folk metal band Eluveitie, the group was formed by Anna Murphy, Merlin Sutter and Ivo Henzi.

Cellar Darling plays an atmospheric style of folk metal utilizing a lot of progressive influences. A new album, The Spell, was released on March 22nd via Nuclear Blast.

I view a lot of music videos and I first discovered Cellar Darling about six months ago when I stumbled upon the video for the song “Insomnia”. I thought it had some creepy visuals, so I kept an eye on the band.

They’ve since released music videos for “The Spell”, “Death” and now “Freeze”. Each effort utilizes the same morbid animation. Hypnotically entertaining, these visuals mesh with landscape of the songs. Effortlessly moving from folk metal to someplace darker and entirely more atmospheric. I appreciate how the little details in each song seemingly connect with the accompanying video. It gives the efforts an even more artistic appeal. The onscreen lyrics in “Freeze” appear as the veil of this eerie soundscape, a guiding shroud that leads us to the end of this impassable track.

I never thought I’d say this but I’m glad these artists parted ways with Eluveitie. Cellar Darling is act on the rise. Check out the video for “Freeze” and let these ghastly images possess you! \m/
