The music is fresh yet recognizable, a punishing sound laced with an edge so sharp it could slit your throat!

I’ll admit I had mixed emotions writing this review. Children Of Bodom was a great band. Alexi Laiho was a Guitar God. Although his unexpected loss is a tragedy I won’t soon forget, I prefer to celebrate his accomplishments instead of lamenting his loss.

Children Of Bodom was one of the most internationally acclaimed metal acts of all time. Releasing 10 studio albums and 2 live releases before their final farewell as a group back in 2019.

Bodom After Midnight was intended to mark the beginning of an exciting new chapter for Alexi. A Finish death metal supergroup, the band included Daniel Freyberg (Guitar / Children Of Bodom), Waltteri Väyrynen (Drums / Paradise Lost) and Mitja Toivonen (Bass / Santa Cruz).

The pandemic may have kept this act from preforming, but it did not stop the release of new material. A new EP entitled: Paint The Sky With Blood is due out on April 23rd via Napalm Records.

This EP was recorded in Finland back in 2020, a three-track effort which now embodies a whole new meaning. It stands as a tribute to an outstanding artist and his allegiance to metal. A new music video, “Paint The Sky With Blood”, has just been released to hype this achievement and pay homage to a legend.

The new music video is a performance offering featuring just what you’d expect, headbanging and quality metal. Alexi appears revitalized in this effort, ready to battle the globe once again. The music is fresh yet recognizable, a punishing sound laced with an edge so sharp it could slit your throat! I can image myself standing in the pit yelling: “Fight, fight, fight!”. It was invigorating to see Alexi flip his guitar one more time.

Gone far too soon, this video stands as a celebration of a legend. Check out this new video from Bodom After Midnight and witness for yourself what will undoubtedly be part of metal lore. \m/
