Part death metal, part rhythmic unbalance, this music is so diversified it’s hard not to appreciate.

In my mind most acts with a deathcore tag usually get lumped into the ‘overzealous vocals, too many breakdowns’ category but Within The Ruins is something different. What makes this band stand apart are the progressive aspects utilized. They are carefully constructed and hold enough volatility to get your fist pumping!

Halfway Human, due out March 3rd 2017 via eOne Music, is filled with unnatural sounds and beats. It’s a metalcore based attack of industrially fused madness. The album holds a breezy quality not often heard in today’s metal efforts. Each track serves as standalone trips into an enlightened psyche.

The guitar work is amazing, down to the tone of the acoustics and the solos are tremendous. Ridiculously fast and technically challenging for the listener, the tone of the guitar seems to coincide with the music taking the songs to a whole new level of melody.

The bass and drums provide the perfect sound barrier for this well diversified attack. Part death metal, part rhythmic unbalance, this music is so diversified it’s hard not to appreciate. Highlight tracks for me are: “Beautiful Agony”, “Incomplete Harmony”, “Bittersweet, ”Absolution” and a wicked instrumental called “Ataxia IV”.

The latest effort from Within The Ruins Halfway Human is well worth your time. It’s a melody infused exploration of human nature that will undoubtedly redefine our current definition of the extreme. \m/
