The music is a contrast of sounds. Swedish death metal guitar riffs fused with dark, romantic themes.  All set within a synthetically puritanical frame, a new sound not previously experienced in metal.

I am a huge fan of dueling vocals in metal. I find the contrast amazing, a showcase of both style and distinction. This duality of sound allows a band to be aggressive and edgy but at the same time dynamic and dreamy. This vocal innovation has allowed extremity to enter previously uncharted realms, appealing to a new congregation of metal fandom.

Volturian is a new metal band founded by singer Federica Lanna, vocalist of symphonic metal band Sleeping Romance and guitarist Federico Mondelli of Frozen Crown. Their debut record, Crimson, was just unveiled on February 24th, 2020 via Scarlet Records.

Drawing their inspiration from ‘90s metal and ‘80s synthesizer pop, Volturian is like a Gothic soundtrack come to life. The music is a contrast of sounds. Swedish death metal guitar riffs fused with dark, romantic themes.  All set within a synthetically puritanical frame, a new sound not previously experienced in metal.

Highlight tracks for me are: “New Life”, “Broken”, “The Killing Joke” and “Days Before You Died”.

Volturian is a band on the rise. I urge you to check out Crimson and let this Gothic duality paralyze you! \m/
