The incorporation of orchestra elements works for Udo. His raspy voice is a great accommodation to this style of music.
Orchestra compositions and extreme music are seemingly a match made in heaven. Where else can the fullness of power and fury truly be realized? This adaptation has renewed the vigor flowing through our metallic veins. It has added a maturity to the music and made it more accessible. Smashing the misconception that heavy metal is a rite of passage for youthful rebellion.
Udo Dirkschneider is a true metal icon. Devastating audiences with the power of his voice since the late ’60s with Band X, Accept, and his own moniker (U.D.O.), his vocals have appeared on a whooping twenty six studio albums. We’d be hard pressed to find another prolific vocalist as devoted and as hard working as Udo has been.
Showing no signs of stopping, U.D.O’s latest effort, We Are One, contains 15 new songs. It will be released via AFM Records on July 17th, 2020.
The incorporation of orchestra elements works for Udo. His raspy voice is a great accommodation to this style of music. Providing an ‘epic quality’ to the songs and enhancing the ‘power metal prowess’. The backing vocals are outstanding, the perfect addition to an evolving structure. Highlight tracks for me are: “Pandemonium”, “We Are One”, “Blindfold (The Last Defender)”, “Blackout”, “Natural Forces”, “Beyond Gravity” and “We Strike Back”.
Udo has set the standard for many and he continues to set it. We Are One is a surprising release. I was expecting heavy metal dressed up with some simple orchestra arrangements to some classic tracks, but this release is so much more.
This offering is full of style and originality, a surprising direction for such a prolific vocalist to take. Udo Dirkschneider has proven once again why he is a force to be reckoned with. Check out We Are One and let the anthems of U.D.O. invigorate you! \m/
