In an age where music is often brutally serious, Roctum offers something refreshing and unique.
Although style and substance are important musical ingredients, I like to think metal is also about quality entertainment. It doesn’t matter if we’re talking scary masks, alien costumes or corpsepaint. Theatrics sell and Roctum offers more than the average gimmick. This is a well cultivated attack that enhances the overall presentation of Roctum’s music.
Roctum is a theatrically inclined punk/metal outfit from Finland. The group has been active since 1999 and has just released a new EP (4/25/17), Nothing to do with Hell, through Inverse Records.
Nothing to do with Hell is only a three song EP but it does offer some punch. I wasn’t very impressed with the opening track “Mission Abort” but the other two tracks “Nothing to do with Hell” and “We want More” really pack a wallop. When you add amusing lyrics and a throwback flavor to their assault, it’s hard not to like this group.
In an age where music is often brutally serious, Roctum offers something refreshing and unique. Artist names like Stunk Man (Vocals) and Banana Boy (Bass) are designed to ‘lighten the load’ with the purpose of making music fun.
If this EP is any indication of what Roctum brings to the table there is cause for excitement. If they can do this in the studio, just imagine what a live show would be like!
Check out this new EP by Roctum and make sure you have nothing to do with hell. \m/
