The new album entertains a multidimensional vibe that incorporates elements of death metal and funk.
I’ve been following the band Reign since I saw them open for Flotsam & Jetsam back in 2016. I viewed them as a polished thrash act with an old school mentality. It was no surprise to hear that they played on Van’s Warped Tour (2017).
Reign has been active since 2013 and Destitute is the band’s first full length studio effort. Previously, the group released two successful EP’s: WMD (2015) and Maximum Carnage (2016).
Destitute can be considered a new beginning for Reign musically, as they have moved away from the retro-thrash sound that established the band. The new album entertains a multidimensional vibe that incorporates elements of death metal and funk. The end result is a well rounded attack which will undoubtedly help Reign define itself in this re-budding thrash scene. Highlight tracks for me are: “Destitute”, “Faceless”, “Sent to the Gallows”, “In God We Rust” and “Declaration of the Jungle”.
Reign is a band ready to go for broke. Check out Destitute and let this unyielding style of street metal hustle you! \m/
