With an effort that fuses the melodies of classic metal with the formula of vintage thrash it’s hard not to like where Kryptos is going.
I’m glad summer is finally here. Backyard barbecues and days by the pool. Whenever I’m hanging out in the sun, it’s time for some classic heavy metal.
Although I appreciate the masters of metal, I will admit after twenty years even the best Judas Priest album can sound stale on occasion. Luckily there’s a new wave of heavy metal bands fighting to take their place, the most prominent of these is India’s Kryptos.
India may not be the first place you think of when you consider heavy metal but believe it or not Kryptos has been active since 1998 and has been delivering quality records since 2004. Their latest album, Afterburner, just dropped on June 21st via AFM Records and I think it’s their best offering yet.
With an effort that fuses the melodies of classic metal with the formula of vintage thrash it’s hard not to like where Kryptos is going. The guitar work on this record is spectacular, a relentless vibe that matures with each listen. Highlight tracks for me are: “Afterburner”, “Cold Blood”, “Red Dawn”, “On the Run” and “Mach Speed Running”.
It’s time for you to discover the encryption known as Kryptos. Check out Afterburner and let their music solve this metal mystery for you! \m/
