It’s hard not to like HerezA. Their melodies are surgically precise and murderously consistent. This record puts the petal to the floor and never lets up.

When I consider the evolution of metal, no genre was more impactful than death metal. This was more than guttural vocals and gory lyrics, this was double bass drums and distortion of speed rambunctious enough to aggravate Satan.

Bands progress, it’s what they do. Entombed will never sound like they did on Left Hand Path again nor will Dismember re-capture the demonic beauty of Like an Ever Flowing Stream. I’ve worn these records out and I’ve been waiting for a band to re-capture that viciousness.  Evolution has ensured the end of an era but time has allowed old influences to take shape.

HerezA from Croatia have reclaimed this death metal magic. The music on I Become Death is like Swedish death metal with a heavy thrash emphasis. The sound is full and menacing and the vocals dirty and guttural like a zombie risen from the grave! This maniacal delivery serves as the dressing for a well-thought out attack. Highlight tracks for me are: “I Am Death”,”Uniŝti, Pali, Ruŝi”,” In The Name Of God”, “Full Moon Slaughter” and “Tombcrawler”.
