This is a group that understands the ‘old school’ mentality, style and melody all executed with rapid fire precision.
Greece has become a hotbed for thrash acts. A whirlpool of melody and might, these groups are doing more than just paying homage to a genre. Their enthusiasm is taking this classic style to a whole new level!
One of the groups leading this charge is The Crucifier from Athens, Greece. Active in some form since 1995, the group has two full length efforts under their belt; Merciless Conviction (2002) & Cursed Cross (2010). A new effort, Voices In My Head, is set for release later this month (September 29th) via Punishment 18 Records.
Voices in my Head is a classic thrash attack in the vein of bands like Exodus or Vio-Lence but with the edge of European masters like Kreator or Destruction. The end result is moshing brilliance! The record is filled with a fervor for this genre, it’s hard not to get caught up in these chaotic emotions. The vocals of H.K. Thrasher do take some getting used to. He reminds me of the original Exodus singer Paul Baloff. What he lacks as a pure vocalist he makes up for with unbridled aggression. Highlight tracks for me are: “Within Insanity”, “Happy Face Man”, “Forgive & Don’t Forget”, “Imaginary God”, “Fake Truth” and “Voices Inside My Head”.
The Crucifier is a worthy addition to the thrash genre. This is a group that understands the ‘old school’ mentality, style and melody all executed with rapid fire precision. Check out Voices in my Head and let The Crucifer unleash their high octane thrash attack on you! \m/
