This is my first exposure to the group and after experiencing this offering it’s easy to see why they’ve been around since 2001.
One of the things that makes metal great is its never ending diversity. New styles are constantly developing as classic sounds are perpetually re-explored. Nothing ages in a genre that presents a frame of mind open to anything.
Sirenia is a gothic metal act from Norway and they’ve been opening minds since 2001. The band has released eight studio albums. The 9th offering, Arcane Astral Aeons, is due out October 26th via Napalm Records.
A theatrical effort with plenty of performance clips cut in, this video is a feast for the eyes. Mythological themes have a lot of replay ability and “Seven Widows Weep” is no exception. It was great to see the Sirens of lore come to life.
The dual vocals really enhance this band’s overall attack. A death metal tinge which gives the group an unexpected bite. The musicality, aggression and complexity are a powerful combination. This is my first exposure to the group and after experiencing this offering it’s easy to see why they’ve been around since 2001.
I watch videos all the time, I went into this one for Emmanuelle Zoldan but ended up writing about it because the song and video were unexpectedly good. Check out “Seven Widows Weep” by Sirenia and if you’re out at sea and happen across a mermaid, stay on the freaking boat! \m/
