The Satanist is an audio masterpiece. It only seems fitting that a video like this accompany it.

The shock value of Behemoth never seems to get old. A new video has been released for “O Father O Satan O Sun”. This is the final track from Behemoth’s highly acclaimed record, The Satanist (2014). This new visual offering has been released  in conjunction with a new Behemoth a live album, Messe Noire, which hit the streets back on April 13th. The packaging includes a live concert Blu-ray/DVD and CD. It also contains all the music videos previously associated with this famed album.

This video opens with a blurry figure dressed like a black magic priest, he holds up a gun and points it at the screen. What follows is a series of images that play off the atmosphere of the music. My favorite scene involves the possessed creature chained to a rock. The sun seemingly executes him like a vampire. Birds swoop down and feed on his bloody remains. The violence held in light seemingly cleanses all life.

The reverse camera shots are just sick. The video concludes with what seems to be a curbside view to a literal baptism by fire. The concepts of astral projection, out of body experience or even full blown possession are explored. At over eight minutes, this video has a lot to say. The spoken word makes these images even more compelling.

The artistry of Behemoth really puts them into a class all of their own. Videos like these are visual monuments. Full of concepts and contradictions, this is art-imitating life. The Satanist is an audio masterpiece. It only seems fitting that a video like this accompany it. Check out “O Father O Satan O Sun” and let the imagination of Behemoth captivate you! \m/
