This revamped lineup breaks the previous mold. Incalculable melodies enhanced by a root that is blackened to the core. What more could you ask for?
Progression should be the reality of life. We are on this planet for such a short time. We owe it to ourselves to move forward. Time waits for no one.
For all practical purposes Skeletonwich is a new band. Line-up changes and musical evolution have moved the group down a different path. If you’re looking for the ‘old school Ring Wraith thrash attack’ this isn’t it. Groovy riffs and sweeping melodies are at the forefront of the new onslaught and while you might call this a ‘new direction’ for the band it definitely works. The new album, Devouring Radiant Light, hit the streets earlier last month via Prosthetic Records.
This new material is menacingly tragic, a sorrowful flow, featuring a serious intensity that encourages multiple listens. The guitarwork unveils another voice. The solo work is in tune with the message and enhances the steady flow of executed material. Highlight tracks for me are: “When Paradise Fades”, “Temple of the Sun”, “The Luminous Sky”, “Devouring Radiant Light” and “Carnarium Eternal”.
Skeletonwitch will survive. Style and sound mean little when the material has become predicable. This revamped lineup breaks the previous mold. Incalculable melodies enhanced by a root that is blackened to the core. What more could you ask for? Check out Devouring Radiant Light and let the embrace of the Skeletonwitch entrance you! \m/
