This band is a culmination of intensity, a maniacal revelation and reflection of human offence.

Artists growing up in this day and age have the advantage of absorbing the styles and melodies that have come before them. Many forget heavy metal’s existence can only be traced back a mere fifty years. A time when many of the genre’s most famous pioneers were founded (1968) Black Sabbath, Deep Purple and Led Zeppelin. Metal has come a long way since then, harder, faster and more blood thirsty. This music has turned into a micro driven melting pot of human aggression. The envelope is still being pushed and bands like Purest of Pain are prepared to set a new standard for civilized brutality.

Purest of Pain is a melodic death metal act from the Netherlands, established back in 2008. They arrived with a splash back in 2011 with the Revelations in Obscurity EP but not much has been heard from them since then, until now. The group’s latest effort, Solipsis, hit the streets on March 1st 2018.

Purest of Pain infuses a lot of progressive elements into their work. This is more than playing music in a deathcore style or incorporating melodic death metal hooks. This is an aggressively fused grove-laden assault with enough unpredictability to satisfy any fan of extreme music. Highlight tracks for me are: “Crown Of Worms”, “E.M.D.R.”, “Tidebreaker”, “Momentum”, “Vessels” and “The Solipsist”.

Purest of Pain impressed me. I was expecting another deathcore act but I got so much more. This band is a culmination of intensity, a maniacal revelation and reflection of human offence. Check out Solipsis and let the virtual visions of Purest of Pain infect you! \m/
