Enhanced by solid bass lines, supersonic drum work and memorable solos, the songs are delivered with a noteworthy speed metal vibe. This keeps the overall attack grounded and makes it highly indefinable for the listener.

The first thing I notice whenever I listen to a new song is the opening riff. A solid riff sets up the whole song. This is what makes music memorable. Darkest Color is from Athens Greece and they are full of amazing riffs. The group was active in the late ‘80s but broke up. This is a revamped version of the band, their debut release: Deal with Pain was released last month via No Remorse Records.

This record is classic thrash tinged with a heavy dose of genre pioneers. Enhanced by solid bass lines, supersonic drum work and memorable solos, the songs are delivered with a noteworthy speed metal vibe. This keeps the overall attack grounded and makes it highly indefinable for the listener. Highlight tracks for me are:  “Darkest Color”, “Deal with Pain”, “Immaculate Conception”, “Sea of Blood” and “Slam Dance”.

If there is a knock to this act it can be found in the vocals. I believe they are occasionally too harsh to be utilized within this style of music. Less is more in a case like this. A guttural vocal can be even more powerful if used sparingly.

Nevertheless, Deal with Pain is a solid debut effort. The musicality of this band is top notch, check out Darkest Color and take your pain to a whole new level! \m/
